This film examines the life and work of American forensic anthropologist Bill Haglund who has travelled worldwide to investigate genocide and war crimes. Haglund has directed teams at sites of mass-graves while working as director for the International Forensics Program of the non-profit organization Physicians for Human Rights (PHI), and as a Senior Forensic Investigator of the UN International Criminal Tribunal for both the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda. By unearthing and analyzing the physical remains of victims of these atrocities, Haglund works to identify the victims and establish the circumstances surrounding their deaths. Belgian filmmaker Philippe Cornet's documentary explores the fascinating past and current work of this pioneer of "human rights anthropology."
