Presenter Bruce Parry sets off for northern Bhutan hoping to reach the village of the Lunaps on a high plateau of the Himalayas, close to the Chinese border. But snow storms on the way up block the pass and force him to take refuge in the village of the Layaps. Here, within the heart of the most sensational mountain environment, he learns about their way life - yak herding, the collection of wild mushrooms, their practice of polyandry and their Buddhist religious beliefs. He also learns the Four Noble Truths of the Buddha whereby in order to achieve happiness, it is necessary to give up attachment to all worldly things. At the climax of the film, he discovers how these Noble Truths apply to his own life and ambitions'.
