In 1921, A Bristol Museum curator opened a parcel to find a donation of two human skulls together with associated artefacts from the California Channel Islands.

In this teaching film  the current curator and the researcher/filmmaker collaborate with descendants of the donor and a wider group of archaeologists and curators including  two indigenous scholars, to recover some of the history and context of the amateur relic hunting which resulted in this collection, as well as preliminary information on the skulls in particular. Such information will  now inform curatorial decisions about the future of the collection.
