“Before, we were poor but we didn’t know it because we lived contentedly in the forest…” Discovering the modern world, the Bagyéli Pygmies realized that they are very poor and seen as slaves by a society dominated by farmers. And when the Exxon pipeline arrives in the Pygmie’s forest with the support of the World Bank, our industrial and bureaucratic society seems to behave more reprehensively than the farmers.
